Charlotte and I went to Vicksburg today to make our semi-annual donation to the operating funds of the casinos. We thought it would be nice to visit McRaven while in the area. I called ahead to the number listed on the McRaven web page only to get a number not in service message. Once in Vicksburg we followed the blue tour signs to McRaven and parked in the lot for "McRaven Tours". I walked up the short brick path to a white iron gate. The path on both sides of the gate was over grown by bushes and the gate was chained closed. I could see part of the house but did not see anyone around.
I searched the Vicksburg Daily News Online for Leonard Fuller and McRaven but came up with nothing to help with McRaven being closed.

We only came from Pearl but I feel sorry for the folks from out of state who have traveled to McRaven only to find it closed. The owners might want to give some thought to changing the tour times on their web page to CLOSED, www.mcraventourhome.com/TourInfo.asp , or even take down the web site altogether.

A friend of mine who lives there and knows the owner told me no one is able to contact him. I'm not sure why they closed or why they left.

That is very disappointing. I would have hated to get there and it be closed. I agree with you that they should inform people of the shutdown.

Well there is a link on their website that says McRaven for sale and it goes to a Century 21 site.
