We all have gotten into the field for different reasons. We all take it seriously and either love the ghost hunt or the chance to help a family out or in my case both, but something that I'm wondering or curious about is what is your fears about this field. Now I'm not talking about the ones from people thinking what we do is a joke or that we are the nutty ones, but I'm asking what is true fear about being on a investigation? Is it the dark or the fear of getting possessed? Maybe for some its the things that go bump in the night. The reason I ask is I've been thinking about this for the past few days and even though I've never been possossed I don't think I'm afraid of it. Anyways tell us what yours are, I bet many of them are all the same or very close.

One of my fears is something tagging along home with me. I could handle it but I know my daughter couldn't and that is my fear, something coming home with me and messing with my kid. That is why I always say a silent prayer to myself before a investigation and after. So far I have had nothing follow me...well not that I know of. I mean if something really wanted to follow any of us I believe it could no matter what type of protection we empower. I try to protect myself with the prayers and carrying hemalite and onyx stones on me as well as my cross necklace which i need a new chain for.

Well.. I definitely don't want anything following me home and messing with my kids either. But other than that, I honestly can't think of anything that scares me about investigating. I know that being possessed is a possibility I suppose, but for some reason that doesn't scare me at all. I'm not really scared of the dark itself, (I actually enjoy the dark most of the time) but I do not like the feeling of being in a place and KNOWING something is there and not being able to see it. But that is just a part of investigating that I have learned to accept and I wouldn't really call it a fear. I have always had this huge fascination with the paranormal but from all the things I have seen, heard, felt, and learned along the way I cannot think of one time that it has ever really scared me. I have maybe been caught off guard a few times, jumped and said a few cuss words, lol. But I don't really have any fears. I think maybe if something crazy and dramatic happened like getting slapped in the face by a ghost, then that might change the way I feel about things, lol. I mean I believe anything is possible but it still doesn't scare me. Not until I have been given a reason to be scared. ;D

Yeah, I'm not bothered by what I might come up against in an invesigation. I can handle myself. The only thing that would bother me enough to possibly quit is getting a recording of a baby crying b/c it's in pain.

Well, I can't say that I'm actually scared, sometimes, I do get a bit unnerved, especially if I am feeling a negative energy around me, as for being followed, well, I've already had that experience once and I wasn't even investigating the paranormal at the time, I had something follow me from one house I lived in to two others. I have also been exposed to someone I believe was possessed and that person died a very tragic and horrible death , so yeah, I do believe that it is possible to be possessed. However, I also believe that if a person is strong spiritually, that the chances are not as likely of a full possession, I do believe that if a bad spirit wanted to harrass and oppress you, it certainly could give it a shot. I love investigating the paranormal, in fact if you asked Tony, he would probably tell you I love the paranormal more than I love him, which isn't true but runs a close second LOL. I think that if we let fear get the better of us, then bad things follow. I am always cautious though, I have certain amulets that I never take off and I also do my share of praying. I would have to agree with Jen C, that might all change if I was ever slapped down by an unseen entity, but in my entire life and the many experiences I have had with the paranormal, so far, that has never happened. I have come to learn my limits over the years as to how much of my energy I can let a spirit drain from me. I know the signs and the symptoms I feel when something is taking too much from me. I think that comes with time and experience and learning to listen to your own body and senses. I will tell ya this, I am more afraid of snakes and flying in planes than I have ever been of ghosts and spirits. I am always happy to meet a ghost, I am never happy to meet a snake LOL.

Haha Angie, me too. People always tell me I am crazy for not being scared of ghosts, so I always tell them I am more scared of living people than the dead because the living can do way more damage than a ghost. lol Chances that I could get hurt or die due to the actions of a living person during my every day life are pretty great. Chances that I could get hurt or die due to the actions of a spirit during an investigation... not so much. ;D

Ghosts "were" people too...as the saying goes. I agree, living people are very unpreditcable. Granted still have a pattern of life. It's easier to figure out when they're dead...and that sounds really wrong but oh well. I'm not sure what it was that slapped me upside the head when i first moved in my house but I don't think it was living.
